About Me

My name is Jennifer Morris and I am a student at Pacific Oaks College, studying Human Development, in pursuit of a Bachelor of Arts degree. I chose to study human development and early childhood education because I have a passion for working with children and families. As a young teenage girl I looked to the actions of Mother Teresa of Calcutta and held her as a role model to emulate. Mother Teresa's work taught me not to be afraid of anyone that isn't like me, through her acts of kindness, and it is something I strive to pass along to those around me.
I believe that every child deserves to play, learn, and to be loved. I think this goal can be accomplished in several ways, such as play based learning in preschools, being exposed to different activities and cultures, stories (real and make believe) and love and support from family, friends and educators. I believe that every family should have a chance to be the best they can be, and sometimes they need help in achieving that goal. I feel that working with children and families is as much of a calling as being a doctor or minister. The purpose of this portfolio is to reflect upon the knowledge I have gained through my time with Pacific Oaks College.
